Aid for Trade™
Aid for Trade™ is a smallholder soft loan on a prepaid plastic Visa or MasterCard service for Schweizer Agriculture, managed by Kachi Agri Micro Finance in partnership with financial institutions, insurance firms, pension houses and banks.
Each card comes pre-loaded with points that can be redeemed at certain agro hubs for agricultural inputs such as seeds, calves (livestock), fingerlings (Tilapia), fertilizers, chemicals, medicines, solar irrigation kits, small tractors, planters or supplies. The intention is to allow a cooperative of 20 members to start a 1 to 10ha farming business.
At Aid for TradeTM, we are developing solutions such as Electronic Warehouse Receipts’ (eWHR’s) linked to collateral manager for support financial inclusion and empower farmers with advanced working capital and payment technology. So that there is less dependency on aid or subsidies from government, cash, safe and more economic growth. We are linking small scale and emerging farmers to working capital, matching grants, guaranteed markets, value addition and making payments for outputs, bills, safe, simple and smart.
According to Master Card they estimate that over 1.7 billion people lacked access to basic financial tools and services. By providing financial services and security to these underserved individuals is critical in helping lift people out of poverty and putting them on a path toward prosperity.
